By the time this article reaches you the first team will only be a matter of days away from playing their very first competitive match in the Thurlow Nunn Division 1 North League v Framlingham Town at home on Saturday 6th August k.o. 3pm. This will be an historic day with the team playing at it highest level in the history of the club. Both our teams have been training really hard in readiness for the forthcoming season and have already played a number of friendlies. The first team played Peterborough Sports, from the Vanarama National League North, in front of a home crowd of over 250 and narrowly losing 0-1 to a very late goal. There was also a home game v Pinchbeck Utd, who play in the United Counties League Premier Division North and this resulted in a 1-3 defeat. Both these games were played against teams from higher divisions and Heacham matched their opponents for very long periods in both games. Certainly looks very encouraging for the season ahead. Meanwhile the Reserves played a friendly against Swaffham Reserves and came back brilliantly from being 1-3 down to win 5-3.
The first team have the following friendlies arranged:-
Tuesday 12th July home v Fakenham Town
Saturday 16th July home v Kings Lynn U23's
Tuesday 19th July away v Yaxley
The Reserves are also at home on the 16th v Mattishall Res (following on after the first team game). An update on the outcome of these matches will appear in the September issue of the Newsletter together with more details on up and coming fixtures for both teams.
